Solved Technology Planning FAQs

Find answers to common questions about opening the app, saving Technology Plans, creating PDFs and keeping backups. If you still need help, use the form below or the contact options above to get in touch.

getting started

What is the Solved Technology Planning app?
It is an app you use through your web browser at app.solved.nz  It is also a progressive web app, or PWA, which means you can add an app icon to your computer, iPhone or iPad for easier access.

Do I have to install it?
No. You can use it in your browser. If you prefer an app icon, install it through Chrome on a computer or use Add to Home Screen in Safari on an iPhone or iPad.

How do I install it on my computer?
Open app.solved.nz in Chrome. Use the install icon in the address bar if it appears, or open the Chrome menu and look under Cast, save, and share for Install page as app. Follow the prompt. Menu wording can vary with your Chrome version.

How do I add it to my iPhone or iPad?
Open app.solved.nz in Safari or Chrome. Open the Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen. If Open as Web App appears, leave it switched on, then tap Add. Use the new icon to open the app.

Why am I being asked for an email access code?
During current testing, access is protected by Cloudflare using a one-time code sent by email. Follow the access screen instructions and use the code sent to you. This testing arrangement does not establish the permanent customer login or licensing process. It does not back up or synchronise your plans.

creating and updating technology plans

Can I keep more than one Technology Plan?
Yes. The app supports multiple Technology Plans. Use New Plan to start another plan, and choose the correct saved plan when you return to edit it.

How do I start a new plan?
Choose New Plan and enter your information in the plan. Use Save & Continue as you work, or Save & Close when you want to finish for now.

What does Save & Continue do?
Save & Continue saves your plan in the current browser or app storage and lets you keep working. Save regularly rather than relying on changes being saved automatically.

What does Save & Close do?
Save & Close saves your plan in the current browser or app storage and closes the editing view. You can reopen the saved plan later to make changes.

Can I reopen and change a saved plan?
Yes. Open the app in the same place you used before, choose your saved plan and reopen it for editing. Save your changes when you have finished.

How do I rename or delete a plan?
Use Manage and choose Rename or Delete for the relevant plan. Check the plan carefully before deleting it. Create a backup first if you may need the information later; do not rely on being able to undo a deletion.

saving and keeping backups

Where are my plans stored?
Plans are stored locally in the browser or app storage on the device you are using. A saved plan is not a cloud backup. Clearing website data, using private browsing, losing a device or resetting it can put that information at risk.

Will my plans appear on another device or in another browser?
Do not assume they will. Storage is specific to the device and browser or app context. A different browser, browser profile or Home Screen app may show a different set of plans. Opening app.solved.nz or using the same email access code does not synchronise them.

What does Create Backup do?
Create Backup produces a backup file for use with Import Backup. Keep the file somewhere you can find again. Saving a plan in the app alone does not create this separate file.

When should I create a backup?
Create one after important updates and before changing devices, clearing browser data or deleting plans. Keep a recent copy somewhere separate from the device holding your plans, such as a USB drive or a storage service you already use. Putting a backup file in cloud storage does not make the app synchronise automatically.
H

ow do I use Import Backup?
Open the app where you want to use your plans, choose Import Backup and select your backup file. Read any messages before proceeding and check the resulting plans. If that location already has plans, create a backup of them first. Do not assume an import will merge plans or leave existing plans untouched.

How do I move to another device?
Save your latest changes and use Create Backup on the original device. Transfer the backup file to the new device, open app.solved.nz there and use Import Backup. Check your plans before removing anything from the original device. Later changes on one device will not automatically update the other.

pdfs and help

How do I create a PDF?
Open the plan you want, save your latest changes and choose Create PDF. Use the PDF or browser controls available on your device to save or print it. Check that you have the correct plan and that the information is up to date.

How do I return to editing after creating a PDF?
Choose Back to Technology Plan to return to the plan. Make any changes, save them and create a new PDF if you need an updated copy.

Is a PDF the same as a backup?
No. A PDF is a copy for reading, printing or sharing. Use Create Backup to make the file intended for restoring editable plans with Import Backup. Keep both if you want a readable copy and a restorable copy.

My saved plans are missing. What should I check?
Check that you are using the same device, browser and browser profile, or the same installed app, as before. Avoid clearing website data while investigating. If you have a backup, use Import Backup in the intended location. Contact support if you need help; recovery without a backup is not guaranteed.

How should I look after my information?
Use a device you trust, protect access to it and keep PDF and backup files somewhere suitable for personal information. Share files only with people you intend to receive them. Local storage does not by itself mean that the information is encrypted or inaccessible to other people using the device.

Where can I get help?
Choose Help & Support in the App. It links to this page. Use the form below to describe what you were trying to do, your device and browser, and any message you saw. You do not need to send your full plan to explain a problem.

privacy and security

Who can see the information I enter into Technology Planning?

Your Technology Plan is stored on your own device, not on our servers.

Technology Planning stores the information you enter in your web browser's local storage. This means your Technology Plan is saved on the computer, tablet or phone you're using, rather than on a remote server.

Neither Solved Tech Support nor Cloudflare can access the information you enter into your Technology Plan through the app.

The Technology Planning application is delivered securely using Cloudflare, a major international provider of internet infrastructure and security services. Cloudflare delivers the application itself, but your personal Technology Planning information is stored locally on your device.

When you use Create Backup or create a PDF Technology Binder, you can save a copy of your information to a location of your choice. You are responsible for keeping those copies secure, particularly if you save them to a cloud storage service or share them with someone else.

Important: Because your information is stored locally, it won't automatically appear on another device.

You can use Create Backup and Import Backup to transfer your Technology Plan between devices.
